Deer Run Lodge is located in the peaceful countryside of Yorkville, Illinois—approximately halfway between Chicago and Starved Rock State Park. It offers a quiet country setting while remaining close to restaurants, shopping, parks, and local attractions.

How many guests can Deer Run Lodge accommodate?

The entire property accommodates up to 12 guests. The Log Cabin and Guest Quarters may be reserved separately. The Log Cabin can accommodate up to 6 guests and the Guest Quarters can accommodates up to 4 guests. NOTE: Accommodation numbers include children and visitors

What does the property include?

Deer Run Lodge consists of two fully equipped living spaces—the Log Cabin and the Guest Quarters—connected by a climate-controlled Sunroom. Each side has its own kitchen, living areas, bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry facilities, and outdoor amenities. When the Log Cabin and Guest Quarters are rented separately they share the Sunroom.

Can I rent only part of the property?

Yes. Depending on availability, the Log Cabin and Guest Quarters may be rented separately. When the property is divided between two reservations, the climate-controlled Sunroom is a shared space. Each rental has its own private living areas and designated decks.

Are the hot tubs private

Accepted Answer

When the entire property is reserved, guests have access to both hot tubs. When the property is rented separately, each rental has its own designated hot tub.

Is the property suitable for guests who have difficulty with stairs?

Accepted Answer

The Guest Quarters is entirely on one level and includes a king bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living area, laundry, and private deck. The Sunroom can be accessed without using stairs. The Log Cabin is only accessible by using stairs and  has bedrooms on the second floor.

Are pets allowed?

Dogs are welcome. Please put them on the reservation so payment of the applicable pet fee will be applied. No more than two dogs per reservation is allowed. Cats are not allowed. Other pets require pre-approval.

Do you allow parties or events?

Accepted Answer

Deer Run Lodge is designed for relaxing getaways, family gatherings, and small group stays—not parties or open-invitation events. All guests and visitors must be included in the approved guest count which can't go over the max occupancy.

Are daytime visitors allowed?

Accepted Answer

Visitors require advance approval and count toward the property’s maximum occupancy. Vendors, babysitters, photographers, and other non-overnight visitors also count toward occupancy while they are on the property. 
Revolving visitors are not permitted. This means guests may not rotate different people on and off the property during the stay to remain under the occupancy limit. Only the registered guests and pre-approved visitors may be on the property.

What are the check-in and checkout times?

Check-in begins at 4:00 p.m., and checkout is by 10:00 a.m. Early check-in or late checkout may sometimes be available as a paid add-on but must be approved in writing in advance.

Is a security deposit required?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A refundable security deposit authorization is required before arrival. The amount depends on which portion of the property is reserved. The deposit is released after checkout provided there is no damage, excessive cleaning, or a violation of the rental agreement that incurs an expense.

Do you provide pickleball equipment?

Yes. Pickleball equipment is available for guest use. Guests are also welcome to bring their own paddles and balls. We do encourage our guest to bring their own safety glasses.

Is firewood provided?

Yes. One of the perks of staying at Deer Run Lodge is the ample starter supply of firewood that is provided for the outdoor fire pit. Fires are permitted only when weather conditions and local restrictions allow.

Yes, separate towels are provided for hot-tub use

What is provided in the kitchens?

Both kitchens include stainless cookware, dishes, utensils, major appliances, storage containers, Ninja blender, cookie sheets and pan and other basic cooking supplies. Reach out if there's something in particular you have a question about.

Do I need to bring bottled water?

A reverse osmosis filtration system at the kitchen sink provides drinking water.

What is the water quality?

Our property is supplied by well water that is treated and softened for clean, comfortable use. Guests should not experience the odor or hardness sometimes associated with untreated well water.

Are the hot tubs available year-round?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The hot tubs are generally available throughout the year. Temporary closures may occasionally be necessary for cleaning, maintenance, repairs, or severe weather.

What are the quiet hours?

Quiet hours must be observed from 10 pm to 8 am. The hot tubs may still be used quietly, but outdoor music is not permitted and voices must be kept low to respect our neighbors.

Is smoking or vaping allowed?

No. Smoking and vaping are prohibited inside all buildings and by any open windows or doors. Guests are responsible for any additional cleaning, odor remediation, or damage caused by smoking.

Is street parking available?

Accepted Answer

No, however, complimentary on-site parking is available for registered guests. The property can accommodate up to 7 vehicles, but it depends on how they are parked and the size of the vehicles. Guests staying in the Guest Quarters may have up to 2 vehicle. Guests in the Log Cabin may have up to 5 vehicles. Guests are to park in a manner that does not block the circular driveway.

Nearby activities include hiking, horseback riding, golf, kayaking, fishing, farm attractions, antique shopping, outlet mall, pottery workshops, escape rooms, seasonal festivals, restaurants, and Illinois’ largest water park-Raging Waves, Silver Springs State Park. Starved Rock State Park and numerous Chicago-area attractions are also within day-trip distance.

Can I book a stay for someone else?

Accepted Answer

The person who makes the reservation must remain at the property for the duration of the stay and is responsible for the conduct of the entire group. If you wish to gift a stay, simply  have them book their stay and then you reimburse them.

What checkout tasks are required?

Before leaving, guests are asked to:

Run the dirty dishes through the dishwasher
Place remotes near their corresponding devices
Secure doors and windows
Double check for forgotten personal items

We keep checkout requirements simple so guests can enjoy their final morning.

Why do you request the names and contact information of all guests?

For safety, security, and compliance with our rental policies, we ask that the booking guest provide the full names and contact information of everyone who will be staying at the property.
